Background
“I basically have been wrestling since I was seven years old all the way through college. I wrestled at Elmhurst College. I’m now putting the beast together by going to a stand-up school and learning Muay Thai and getting good with the eight limbs. I plan to do some damage when I go down to the middleweight division,” said Garrett.
Performance
“Actually I feel that it was an ok performance but I didn’t let my hands go. I wrestled him and he just got out-worked on the ground,” said Washington.
At the beginning of the fight, Mobley caught Washington with a few clean shots to the face but Washington was able to overcome and stay focused.
“The first one just kind of caught me off guard but he got me with a clean shot. I think he got me by the tip of the mouth and knocked off my mouth guard but I was never like dazed or anything. It was more like a wake up call,” said Washington.
End of Fight
“Basically I got the take down, I clipped him with a right and I went for the mount but he gave me his back and he wasn’t defending properly. He was just covering up, so the referee had to stop the fight before he got hurt. He didn’t tap out but he didn’t defend himself,” said Washington.
Future
Washington said that he plans to do an eight week training and fight again in February 2012.
Final Thoughts
“Just a big ups to Top Notch, thanks to all my training partners, Mac Ramos my head trainer, Joel Lucas my stand-up guy. Thank you to everybody who believes in me. Thank you to my girlfriend and my family for coming out,” ended Washington.
